Continued from Day 154 Practicing God’s Presence.

In Post 154, I discussed how God’s original desire for creating man was to have fellowship (Koinonia) with man. That plan was spoilt by the fall of man federally. God then elected to pursue individuals for example Abraham. Through individuals, God was still able to pursue His purpose on earth. God needs man to pursue His purpose on earth but man needs God to bring down God’s government on earth. Man provides the body, God provides the power. Man has to be one with His Father to avoid discord and to execute the revealed will of the Father. In Koinonia ( fellowship) with God, man receives illumination about the will of the Father. Man’s will was to synchronize with God’s.?

Man was never meant to have a will that’s independent of the Father’s. Through Koinonia, man would acquire the will of God such that only God’s will would transcend. When Adam sinned his will became detached from God’s.

With Adam’s will detached from God’s, he started to pursue his own will which was directly contrary to God’s will. The first thing Adam did was to clothe his nakedness with leaves. God’s will was to clothe man with an animal skin, with the blood of dead animal serving as a ransom for man’s sin. The second thing Adam did after sinning was to hide from God’s presence. God’s will was for man to come boldly before the thrown of grace to obtain mercy (Genesis 3:7-10, Hebrews 4:16).

Sin put humanity on a trajectory to act contrary to God’s will. The first project of man after Adams fall was the Tower of Babel which God intercepted proving that man was never meant to to exercise his own will contrary to God’s.

When giving Moses elaborate instructions on how to construct the tabernacle, God followed up with a warning to him “And see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.” Exodus‬ ‭25‬:‭40‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus who is referred to as the last Adam repeatedly stated “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John‬ ‭6‬:‭38‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. If the last Adam came to do the will of the Father, then the first Adam had come to do the will of the Father and so are all his offspring all the way down to you and me.

When doing the will of the Father proved to be very painful and even meant death, Jesus wished he could escape the will of the Father but thankfully He quickly self corrected “saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭22‬:‭42‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Pursing one’s interests always puts one on a collision course with God. That’s precisely what happened to Moses. The children of Israel while in the wilderness they wanted water and they cried to Moses who in turn cried to God. Then God said to Moses ““Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. Note that God communicated His will clearly to Moses here. Nevertheless Moses did to the contrary “And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.”‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. Did Moses do God’s will here? If you answered no, you are collect. Moses and Aaron disobeyed God and “Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.””‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

What does all the aforementioned has to do with Practicing God’s Presence? The more time you spend with your children, or your wife the more get to know them. The more you know people you spend quality time with, the better you know them, their likes, their dislikes etcetera. The more time we spend with God, in prayer, in His word and in worshipping Him, the more we know His will and are more likely to commit to doing His will over our will.
